The
Summer Conference - Thursday 10th June 2010 Where is Marketing now? and Where
is it heading?
The marketer's landscape is changing fast. Increasingly there
are less familiar, evergreen features and yet more alien
acronyms to grasp. Long gone are the days of comfortable mass
markets and predictably padded outcomes. Hefty print-led blitzes
have become as redundant as beehive hairdos and even the once
fertile plain of press advertising is now apparently on its
knees and taking its last painful gasp. But even as these old
campaigners make their twilight shuffle to the dole queue
elsewhere brighter stars are beginning to shine.
Search Marketing, Social Media, the Mobile Channel, the
Long-Tail, tweets, blogs, Bing and a plethora of other
revolutionaries are already over the horizon and creating
galloping changes to the habits of marketing - and of marketers.
But what does it all mean? Where is it all heading? And
crucially, what do marketers who wish to remain viable need to
understand in order to keep up? Even more to the point perhaps,
what effect is this foaming new wave having on customer
expectations and what will future consumer behaviour look like?
